Alfred Tregear Chenhalls (born 1899) was a business manager in the film and entertainment world, and was Leslie Howards’s manager. When Howard was involved in an anti-Nazi trip to Lisbon in 1943, Chenhalls went with him, and was wrongly identified by Nazi agents as Churchill (he was portly and smoked cigars), and Howard was said to resemble Churchill’s personal assistant. The message that Churchill might be in the air was flashed to Berlin, and the aircraft was brought down by eight German fighter planes.
