Muriel M(abel) Malvern was from Cheltenham, and the daughter of an architect, prosperous at any rate in 1911, as he and his younger wife and one daughter lived in a seven room house. At the time of her first win she must have been easily the youngest winner – she was not quite 21 at the time of winning the competition.
